Sister Aurora has recently been transferred to Bangui where her task and ambition consists in transforming the local dispensary into a functioning health care center, especially for young mothers and their children. Providing medical care, pre-maternal assistance, and a clean, safe environment for giving birth is her most profound and heartfelt aspiration.
According to statistics, 43% of children in Bangui die before reaching the age of 5. It is thus our intention to focus on the dispensary aiding during the first years of childhood.
The external structure of the dispensary is kept quite well. But a lot must be done to renovate the interior and to make it function. They are short of almost everything: beds, matrasses (at least 30), solar panels for electricity, fences to protect the property from intruders, mosquito nets at least for the baby cots to protect against malaria.
Extensive financial help is needed to provide for all this.
On top of rooms needing renovation, we have a long list of equipment required for diagnostics and medical treatment, allowing for the best possible health care assistance for the young women and their infants.
Sister Aurora is already working together with a nurse, a medical doctor and a handicraftsman looking after basic maintenance.
Subdividing the purchase of the equipment into four smaller objectives will allow us to honor and praise every single goal achieved together with Sister Aurora, the mothers, and their children.
We are confident to be able to celebrate the accomplishment of this significant project soon, with the help of and thanks to everyone.
