Diagnosing an oncological disease in a child represents both an emotional and organizational challenge for parents. Children have to face long and tiring treatments (in Ticino and sometimes beyond the Gotthard) accompanied and supported by their parents. This implies an enormous organizational effort for the families as, during the hospitalization of the children, the siblings need to be able to continue to follow their routines (school, hobbies). Therefore, the need arises to activate a caregiver who can be present in the family by taking care of the siblings and their needs, while the parents accompany the care path of the child affected by oncological disease.

Donate to the parents group “Together with courage” the amount necessary for the activation of a care service for siblings of children with cancer.

Collect donations for the pediatric oncology parents group of Italian-speaking Switzerland so as to be able to create a care service for siblings of children who have to face treatment.

The parents group “Together with courage” is a support and self-help group, which was born thanks to the desire of a mother of a child with cancer to optimize aid for families and from the support of the Ticino Cancer League. in collaboration with dr. Med. Pierluigi Brazzola, head of pediatrics at the San Giovanni hospital in Bellinzona.

“Together with courage” has as its main purpose that of being there for families affected by childhood cancer, offering them accompaniment, listening and support during and after treatment.

Thanks to regular meetings with the group coordinator, parents assess the needs of children and families and create projects to facilitate their daily life.
